Sitting on the Edge of Something Grand

Welcome to the reoccurring feature on Maybe A Weekend, Photo Roulette. I’ve taken a lot of photographs over the years since I bought my first digital cameras. I’ve always subscribed to the theory that it’s better to get a photo now, then regretting not getting the photo later. Every photo tells a story for me even the most random ones. So from time to time I will post a photo here that may seem pointless, but with a little background will give you a greater idea of the man behind Maybe A Weekend.

For today’s entry…

So the day was November 8th, 2005, I was on day one of a two day field trip in college to Flagstaff, AZ. We had taken the long route to Flagstaff from Yuma which enabled a stop at the Grand Canyon National Park. This was my first time visiting the Grand Canyon and I was totally blown away by the view. So after wandering the South Rim and taking a great deal of photos, some of my classmates convinced me to pose for a few photos. Ever the photographer, I had to scout out a spot that fit my criteria. This particular spot checked all the boxes, so then a great image was made. Looking back on this photo, I’m glad I took my classmates’ suggestion of being in a photo or two even though I’m not the most photogenic. Also looking back I noticed how close to the edge I was, that was definitely a young man’s decision.

I’ve been to the Grand Canyon multiple times since, but this is still my favorite photo there!
