OK let me introduce myself…
I’m Garrick, the person behind Maybe A Weekend.
That’s probably enough information, but apparently websites are supposed to have pages like this.
I’m based in Arizona, originally from the Midwest, and somewhere along the way I developed the financially questionable habit of going places just because I haven’t been there yet.
I work full-time, which means I’m not permanently traveling the world while answering emails from a beach somewhere. I have responsibilities, bills, a schedule, and a limited number of vacation days that I occasionally treat more like a challenge than a restriction.
Maybe A Weekend is what happens when I find a little free time and start asking dangerous questions like:
“Where could I go?”
“How much are flights?”
And, most importantly:
“Technically, do I need to be back by Monday?”
I’ve been taking photos for a long time. I’ve also been traveling for a while. Eventually it seemed reasonable to combine the two and put everything on the internet where complete strangers could judge my life choices.
So here we are.
You’ll find road trips, flights, cruises, cities, beaches, mountains, questionable amounts of food, occasional beverages, random side quests, and a lot of photos around here.
Some trips are carefully planned.
Some are less carefully planned.
Some probably shouldn’t have made it past the initial idea.
Those are usually the interesting ones.
I’m not here to tell you how to quit your job and travel the world.
Please don’t do that because of something you read here.
I’m just a regular guy trying to squeeze a little more adventure into a normal life—and documenting enough of it to justify paying for this website.
If something here convinces you to use a vacation day, take a weekend trip, try somewhere new, or stare at airfare prices for three hours before making a questionable financial decision…
Maybe A Weekend has done its job.
