Garrick

OK let me introduce myself…

My name is Garrick and I’m the man behind Maybe A Weekend. I started this website to share my love of adventure and travel and maybe make a few dollars along the way. Of course financing these adventures and travel is my day job. Is it fulfilling? Not Really. Does it compensate me fairly? Yes. Does it provide me fairly with ample PTO? Very Much So. Will you hear me talking about that employer here? Absolutely not, because they have a very strict social media and media policy. So we’ll just say I work “somewhere doing something”. Will this website someday be my day job? Well we’ll just have to wait and see on that. So that was enough about current me, So let’s dive a little into my background…

I was born and raised in Ohio and have been calling Arizona home since 2000. Travel as a child was pretty limited, which made me yearn for adventure when I became an adult.

I’m very humble when it comes to my travels since work and life in general can often get in the way of fun. But I take advantage of any opportunity to get out there and enjoy life. Not everybody can take a year off for travel, heck some people can barely manage to get a week off from their jobs at a time. Sometimes it’s only a weekend of freedom to enjoy, hence where the name Maybe A Weekend came from. Even with my limitations I have made it to more than half of the United States, a handful of foreign countries, and more national parks/monuments than I can remember. I’ve always liked a great adventure and it doesn’t take much for me to get out of my comfort zone from camping in bear country, white water rafting, floating in hot air balloon and much more. I’ve done a lot of traveling from solo road trips to large college field trips on tour buses. I usually like having travel partners but often adulthood calendars don’t match up and then it’s time for a solo trip. I’ve traveled by planes, trains, automobiles, and boats, pretty much any means of conveyance that gets me to my destination. I’ve seen a lot of places in the past and I plan on seeing even more in the future.

During my travels and adventures I get to partake in my favorite hobby, photography. I can often be found switching between my DSLR and my smartphone camera depending on the situation, but I’m always prepared to attempt to get a great shot. All that photography helps me tell a few good stories here.
