Eating and Drinking My Way Through Downtown Minneapolis

So on my trip to Minneapolis, I found a few things to eat along the way. So here are the details…

O’Donovan’s Irish Pub

My first grazing spot after arriving in Minneapolis was at O’Donovan’s. There I enjoyed the Finnegan’s Fry(fish and chips). For my drink I asked what they had local and picked the Castle Cream Ale from Castle Danger Brewery in Two Harbors, MN.

Breakfast Bar of Minnesota

For my late breakfast on the second day, I picked the catfish and grits. The lighting for this photo wasn’t the best due to being outdoors under a glass roof on a stormy day. The catfish was well seasoned and tasty. I’m not a huge grits fan, but they were really good.

The Loon Cafe-Minneapolis

At the Loon Cafe, I decided to be adventurous and ordered the Habanero Crusted Walleye Sandwich. The walleye was coated with habanero cracker-crumb breading, with the option of being fried or grilled. I opted for fried. Either way, it was served on a brioche bun, with roasted jalapeño tartar sauce, and coleslaw. It packed a spicy punch, but was delicious. I washed the spice away with a couple glasses of Castle Cream Ale from Castle Danger Brewery Two Harbors, MN.

Red Cow North Loop

I picked the Breakfast Burger off of the brunch menu.
The Breakfast Burger was two beef burger patties, peanut butter, bacon, over-easy egg, and cheddar cheese on toasted sourdough bread. The burger was a bit messy, but it was worth the trouble. For fries I had a choice of classic french fries, sweet potato fries, or truffle-parmesan fries. I went with the truffle- parmesan fries and i was not disappointed.

I paired my meal with a local beer the QS Lime & Sea Salt Lager from Indeed Brewing Company in Minneapolis. After I finished my beer, I made a choice off their specialty cocktail list and enjoyed a Pimm’s Cup.

Bar Zia

At Bar Zia, i ordered a light dish off the appetizer menu, the Willmar Mac & Cheese. The mac & cheese was tasty and also had andouille sausage. I paired this meal with Loon Juice Hard Cider from Loon Juice Hard Cider, Inc in Spring Valley,MN. I was still thirsty after so then I had a Surly Hell Lager from Surly Brewing Co in Minneapolis, MN.

AC Lounge

On my last night in Minneapolis, I decided to turn in early to prepare for my flight the next morning. But before turning in I decided to head outside for some fresh air. As I walked through the lobby I noticed the bar was open so I decided to sit down for a night cap. I sipped at some Jameson on the rocks before turning in for the night.

Final Words

I found Downtown Minneapolis to have a wide selection of places to eat or drink. I didn’t stop at as many places as I usually do during a trip, but I found some good places.
