Taking Another Bite Out Of The Big Apple

So on my second trip to New York City, I found a few things to eat along the way. So here are the details…

Day 1 August 11, 2022

The Copper Still

206 7th Ave, New York, NY 10011

I talked with a friend that lives in NYC before my trip, so we met up for dinner. She suggested a couple places and I decided on the Copper Still since it was a quick walk from my hotel. At The Copper Still, I chose the pulled pork, but they were out. I ultimately decided on the Nashville Hot Chicken sliders, which were a bit lacking on the hot, but very tasty. I had a couple drinks at The Copper Still, but I was too quick to drink them before I took a photo. Nevertheless I enjoyed a couple hibiscus mules there.

Day 2 August 12, 2022

Random Hot Dog Cart

7th Ave and 50th St, New York, NY

An early morning in NYC involved a lot of walking before deciding on what I wanted to eat. I found this hot dog cart and grabbed a quick breakfast/lunch on the go.

Wafels & Dinges

6th Ave & W 42nd St, New York, NY 10018

I was walking through Bryant Park and smelled a sweet aroma in the air. So I decided to treat myself with a churro wafels and an iced coffee.

The Beer Spot & Grill

2027 Lemoine Ave, Fort Lee, NJ 07024

After walking across the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey, I decided to stop somewhere for a snack. I ended up at this spot. I decided to keep it light and ordered the Truffle-Parmesan fries. For beverages I had the Riomaggiore from Kane Brewing in Ocean, NJ and followed that with the Saison from Tonewood Brewing in Camden County, NJ.

Bar 180

4241 Broadway, New York, NY 10033

After crossing the George Washington Bridge back into New York, I stopped for a drink at Bar 180 before heading down to Nomad. I enjoyed the Henny colada, as the name suggest a pina colada substituting Hennessy for rum. After that I went with an old fashioned made with rye.

Rosa’s Pizza

299 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001

So after my subway ride back to Nomad, I felt a little hunger so stopped for a slice of pizza. I wasn’t a fan of the sauce at this pizza place, but it hit the spot.

Crampton Ale House

159 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001

After a quick stop back at my hotel to refresh, I stop at this place for a drink.

Day 3 August 13, 2022

Another Random Hot Dog Cart

7th Ave & 51st St, New York, NY

Another early morning walking around deciding what to eat from the massive amount of choices around me. Since I was on the go I grabbed a hot sausage at a random hot dog cart and kept moving.

Billy’s Sports Bar

856 River Ave, The Bronx, NY 10451

I traveled up to The Bronx to do a tour of Yankee Stadium which got me hungry again. I stopped at this establishment not far from the stadium. I picked the JD (Jack Daniels) BBQ burger with a Jameson and ginger ale on the side.

Sid Gold’s Request Room

165 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001

After making it back to Nomad, I refreshed and headed out for the evening. I stumbled across this place and went in for a drink. My first drink was an Eastside which was a cocktail composed of gin, lime, mint, simple syrup, and cucumbers. The drink was very refreshing after a busy day of exploring. My second drink was a Velvet Underground, which was composed of bourbon, lime and velvet falernum. In my book you can’t go wrong with a drink with bourbon in it.

Famous Pizza

1 E 28th St, New York, NY 10016

After a couple drinks at the previous stop, I felt hungry. So I stop in this pizza place for a slice of pepperoni pizza. This was a great slice of pizza, they didn’t disappoint like Rosa’s.

Fresh Pizza & Deli

876 6th Ave, New York, NY 10001

So after a whole 30 minutes of time went by, I found myself in a different pizza place. This slice was very good too.

Express Halal Food Truck

7th Ave & 28th St, New York,NY

After eating my second slice of pizza, I stumbled across this gem. I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it all, but I got the lamb over rice with salad to go before heading back to my hotel. I finished half, before putting the rest in my hotel room refrigerator. The next morning I finished it for breakfast. The photo does not show justice to how tasty this dish was.

Day 4 August 14, 2022

Hungry Ghost Coffee

Somewhere on The High Line, New York, NY

While walking along The High Line, I stopped at the coffee cart and got a cold brew coffee.

Doughnuttery

Somewhere on The High Line, New York, NY

I felt a little hungry after my coffee, so I stopped at the Doughnuttery along The High Line. I enjoyed an order of mini doughnuts. In an order you get to pick two flavor, but I told the guy working the stand to surprise me. I ended up with the Paris Time which was lavender, pistachio, and vanilla in the first bag and Flower Power which was hibiscus, honey, and rose petals in the second bag. Both types were insanely good.

B&W Deli and Pizzeria

373 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001

After walking the entire length of The High Line, I got hungry and stopped for a slice. This slice was a little greasier, but that extra grease just gave it more flavor.

Triple Crown Ale House

330 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001

I was feeling a little thirsty, so I stopped in for a drink. My first beer was the Parachute Jump from Coney Island Brewery and I followed that with the Toasted Lager from Blue Point Brewing.

Mr Mista Oh

41 W 24th St, New York, NY 10010

Since I was staying in Nomad which was close to Koreatown, I had to have Korean food before I left. I went with Truffle bulgogi rice with salad and paired that with strawberry soju. A weird pairing I’m sure, but both were tasty.

La Vera Pizzeria & Restaurant

350 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10010

After some walking and an undisclosed amount of time past since my last meal, I stopped for another slice of pizza. Once again I was not disappointed.

Abbey Tavern

354 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10010

I decide to stop in this establishment for a drink. I usually try to get something local when I travel, but they had no craft on tap. I ended up getting one of my go to beers, Blue Moon, and then followed that with a Jameson and ginger ale.

Sundays Well

360 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10016

I walked into this fancier looking place and had a couple cocktails. First I had the smoked mezcal shake and followed that with a mojito.

Craft+Carry Murray Hill

440 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10016

Another establishment another drink. I would put the timestamps from the photos of the drinks, but that might paint me in a bad light. Anyway, I had the Narragansett Del’s Shandy, which was delicious.

The Wilson NYC

132 W 27th St, New York, NY 10001

I passed this place multiple times since it was in the lobby of my hotel, so I decided to try some of their cocktails. First I had the Booze Hound which was composed of bourbon, Campari, lemon, ginger, and cherry. Then I had the Red Moon Tide which was composed of spicy tequila, lime, bell pepper, and grapefruit with a black lava salt rim.

ANDIAMO PIZZA

818 6th Ave, New York, NY 10001

Once again the convenience of New York style pizza had me stopping for a slice.

99 Cent Fresh Pizza

143 W 40th St, New York, NY 10018

So before I headed back to my hotel on my last night in NYC, I grabbed one more slice of pizza. This slice was number seven of the weekend and besides the sauce on the first one, all were great.

Day 5 August 15, 2022

Gourmet Deli & Pizza

100 8th Ave, New York, NY 10011

So after the previous day’s gluttony, I decide to keep things light. So I stopped at the deli and got a plain bagel with butter, before preparing to depart New York City.

Final Words

It’s New York City, what more do I need to say! It’s a city full of various food from so many cultures. I ate a lot, I drank a lot, and I barely broke the surface. Will I be back to NYC to do it all again, yes I will! Feel free to drop a comment about your favorite places to eat and drink in New York City.
