All Natural Heating, Boise style!

Welcome to the reoccurring feature on Maybe A Weekend, Photo Roulette. I’ve taken a lot of photographs over the years since I bought my first digital cameras. I’ve always subscribed to the theory that it’s better to get a photo now, then regretting not getting the photo later. Every photo tells a story for me even the most random ones. So from time to time I will post a photo here that may seem pointless, but with a little background will give you a greater idea of the man behind Maybe A Weekend.

For today’s entry…

Geothermal Heating Plaque.

So the date was August 25, 2019, I was on Day 3 of my trip to Boise, Idaho, when I stumbled across this plaque on one of the buildings in Downtown Boise. On my first day in Boise while I was on my Booze and Bites tour of Downtown Boise, the tour guide remarked that many of the buildings in Downtown Boise are heated vis geothermal source.

After a quick Google search I found out that over 90 buildings in the Boise Downtown area are heated by geothermal with 20 miles of pipelines servicing over six million square feet of business space and growing. The geothermal system ranking the largest in the United States and sixth in the world. The origins of the system began in the 1890’s which is quite impressive. Not quite what I expected to learn in Boise, but all knowledge is welcome in my brain.
