Life Between Trips: An Update from the Road

For a while, I thought I needed a boarding pass to feel like I was moving forward.

Turns out… I didn’t.

The last few months have been some of the busiest—and most transformative—I’ve had in a long time. Between buying a home, stepping into a new role professionally, and finding a rhythm in a completely new routine, life has been moving at a pace that didn’t leave much room for packing a bag and heading out of town.

And if I’m being honest, for a minute there, I wondered if I had lost that spark.
That urge to go. To explore. To document.

But what I’ve come to realize is this:

I didn’t stop exploring… I just started doing it differently.

Redefining What a “Weekend” Looks Like

Maybe A Weekend was never meant to be confined to airports, itineraries, or long-distance travel. At its core, it’s always been about making the most out of the time you have—whether that’s a weeklong getaway or just a few hours carved out of a busy schedule.

And lately, those few hours have turned into experiences that reminded me exactly why I started all of this in the first place.

Laughing a Little Louder – Comedy Shows

There’s something about sitting in a packed room, lights dimmed, waiting for the first joke to land.

Comedy shows have become one of my favorite ways to unplug. No distractions, no overthinking—just being present. For a couple of hours, it’s just laughter, storytelling, and that shared energy you only get when a room full of strangers is reacting in real time.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the best reset isn’t a trip—it’s a moment.

The Energy of the Crowd – Sporting Events

There’s a different kind of electricity that comes with live sports.

The walk into the arena. The buzz of the crowd before the game starts. The highs, the lows, the unpredictability of it all. It pulls you in whether you expect it to or not.

Being there, in the middle of it, you realize how much you miss when you only experience things from a distance. It’s loud, it’s chaotic, and it’s real—and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Appreciating the Details – Car Shows

Car shows have a way of slowing everything down.

You’re not rushing from one thing to the next—you’re walking, observing, taking it all in. The craftsmanship, the precision, the pride people take in what they’ve built or restored.

Every car has a story. Every detail was intentional.

In a world that moves fast, it’s refreshing to be in a space where people take the time to perfect something… and then share it.

Curiosity Over Distance – Book Festivals

Not every experience is loud or high-energy.

Spending time at a book festival was a different kind of reset. It was quieter, more thoughtful—less about spectacle and more about curiosity.

It’s easy to forget how much there is to learn, to discover, to explore without ever leaving your city. Conversations, ideas, perspectives—it’s all right there if you take the time to look for it.

That day reminded me that exploration isn’t always about movement… sometimes it’s about mindset.

The In-Between Season

If I had to describe this chapter, I’d call it the “in-between.”

Not quite traveling. Not quite standing still.

Building something. Adjusting. Figuring out what the next version of life looks like.

There’s a lot that doesn’t get posted during these moments. The long days. The shifting priorities. The behind-the-scenes work that doesn’t make it to a highlight reel.

But it all matters.

Because without this part—the foundation—the adventures don’t hit the same.

Looking Ahead – The Return of Travel

The best part?

The travel bug never left.

If anything, this time has made it stronger.

Now that things are settling—my home feels like home, my role feels natural, and life has found a rhythm—I’ve started looking ahead again. Planning future trips. Thinking about new cities, new coastlines, new experiences that push me just a little further out of my routine.

There’s something different about planning travel after a pause.

You appreciate it more. You’re more intentional. You’re not just going to go—you’re going to experience it.

And that’s what I’m most excited about.

What Maybe A Weekend Has Always Been

At the end of the day, Maybe A Weekend was never just about where you go.

It’s about how you live in the time you have.

It’s about saying yes to a comedy show on a random night.
About getting caught up in the energy of a game.
About walking a little slower through something that deserves your attention.
About staying curious—even when you’re close to home.

And when the time comes to pack a bag and head out again…

You go with a better perspective.

So What’s Next?

More experiences.
More stories.
More moments—both near and far.

The trips are coming back.
The camera is coming with me.
And the stories are far from over.

This was just a different kind of chapter.

And honestly… one I’m glad I didn’t skip.
